HOW TO AVOID BRITTLE BONES AS YOU GET OLDER
I was with a client this week and they asked me a question on how to avoid brittle bones as they get older. I’ve been asked this a few times lately and I thought I’d jump on today and talk a little bit about it.
So..
This is an important topic to understand and gain insight on.
If you don’t learn some strategies early then as you age your bones can become brittle.
You can feel weak in your body and do not have the confidence in yourself to perform tasks into your 50’s, 60’s and beyond.
I don’t want this path for you.
I want you to have strong bones, be confident in all movement or exercise you want to do. This applies now and as you grow older and feel strong and confident in your body well into your “golden years.”
So here is what I want to share with you today:
My top two tips to avoid brittle bones as you get older.
Top 2 tips
1. Bones respond very well to lifting heavy weights
What that means is they get used to a different weight, different stimulus and a vastly different level of force. When you’re doing day to day tasks you don’t get the sheer amount of force that lifting heavy weights brings. This builds strength over time and gets your bones used to the force it’s experiencing.
2. Add some element of plyometrics into your weekly exercise routine
What I mean by this is those quick take-offs and more importantly quick landings on the ground in your jump type work. The impact sends a big shockwave up into the bones and it’s going to stop your bones getting brittle.
Listen, I hope this was helpful..
To help you even more, I’m going to record a video later this week to help give further example on how to avoid developing those brittle bones as you grow older.
