Easing into exercise after a Spring cold!

The transition into spring can be a little tricky at times, we can be put out by small colds and illnesses.

As a physio I often see people pushing themselves too hard after being unwell..

Taking it easy in the first week or so will set you up for success, getting you back to doing what you love, with who you love sooner.

I totally get it, after being cooped up for a week or so you’re finally feeling better and want to get out and about.

More often then not you’ll burn out by going to hard too soon, it’s all about easing back into your routine and modifying to take care of yourself and your body..

Here are a couple of tips I like to practice during my recovery time!

Do’s and Don’ts for a speedy recovery after a spring cold to enjoy time with your loved ones ❤️

❌Don’t delay movement after recovery

✅Do reduce your gym sets by one set for the first 2 weeks after recovery so you can get moving

❌Don’t do strength work whilst you have a cold so your body can focus on healing
✅Do swap for something lighter like online yoga to keep everything flowing. In most cases you can keep your rehab exercises going.

❌ Don’t focus on the negative and fill yourself with bad media – mindset is everything and just like food we have a choice on what we feed our brains.
✅ Do practice gratitude everyday and be selective on what you choose to focus on – list top 10 things your grateful for to help you have a strong mindset towards recovery.

You got this!
