The flow on effects of neck pain!

The flow on effects of neck pain

If you’ve ever had a pain in the neck then this is for you..

There’s a lot of misinformation out there about neck pain and I wanted to drop in and share some helpful hints and tips with you.

So….

This is Important because there is a general assumption when it comes to neck pain…

That it’s inevitable, a part of life, getting a pain in the neck after a long day is how it is and so on.

The problem with these assumptions is that your neck doesn’t get treated properly.

You’re left vulnerable to injury and you’ve got this chronic neck pain. This can really impact the quality of life you’re living day to day.

Neck pain is one of the most common symptoms that people present with here at the clinic.

Many experiencing it for months, even years before coming in.

I don’t want this for you…

I want you to not have the constant pain in the neck, feel tight or tender after a work day.

I want you to go into each day confident in your neck. Knowing you can rely on it from the moment you wake up until you go to bed at night.

So here is what I want to share with you today:

Here’s the problem:

  1. “It’s only affecting my neck, I’ll just deal with it”

Chronic neck pain will often start extending beyond the neck itself, think your shoulders and even into your back.

Your other joints will support your functionality when your neck is struggling. The thing is, the joints need to be working together, not in spite of each other.

The effects your neck pain can have on other joints means that the longer you leave it, the more pain you end up experiencing, extending beyond where It was originating from.

Fear not!

If you notice the aches and pains in your neck starting to extend beyond, it’s time to address it before you see flow on effects anywhere else. You’ve already got one problem you don’t want 2/3/4 other things to deal with.

2.“Chronic pain is not treatable in the long term”

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard this come up in a consult room. That “my chronic pain cannot be helped long term” and that it is “not treatable”.

Chronic pain is by definition, persistent and reoccurring right. So you’ve been labelled with chronic pain, the problem with labels is that it puts you in a box and we tend to latch onto this.

The main point I want to make here is that chronic neck pain is often “normalised” and it really shouldn’t be. Chronic pain can be worked on. Your limiting beliefs when it comes to achieving long term relief for your chronic neck pain need to be redefined, mindset can have a huge impact on the results you see.

I hope that you found this helpful and gained more understanding around your neck pain, and the effects not addressing these problems can have.

If you’ve got any questions at all or are looking to tackle your chronic neck pain head on. Get in touch and I’d love to have a chat.
